What are the critical issues and challenges faced by the initiative on your campus? | ||
| The research indicates that the need for college preparatory coursework plays a significant role in determining students’ academic achievement at the college level. Furthermore, research has shown that students who complete all prep coursework enjoy success rates similar to non-prep students, but those with multiple deficiencies are far less likely to complete all remediation needed. Research also indicates that in all three prep areas, BCC students have lower success rates than the state system average, e.g., 46% in math versus 50% statewide. However, students who complete preps and go on to complete at least 18 college credit hours, double their chances of obtaining an Associate’s degree. | ||
